Worldwide over the past 50 years since Synthroid and other T4-only meds hit the market (and doctors were brainwashed into thinking it was the way to go), hypothyroid patients found out the hard way why it’s not the way to go: the body is not meant to live for one of five hormones alone!
The majority of T4-only treated patients have found themselves in one of three groups, or a combination of some parts:
1) Those who did poorly from the beginning with continuing hypothyroid symptoms (that was me, Janie)
2) Those who saw “some” symptom improvement on T4-only, but it just wasn’t enough improvement in all areas.
2) Those who did fabulous from the beginning, only to see hypothyroid symptoms creep up here and there the longer they stayed on, requiring anti-depressants, or statins, or pain meds or other.
